NAMI Bucks Forum
NAMI Bucks holds a forum on the third Thursday of the following months: September, November, February, April and June. Each forum will feature a speaker on various topics that are of interest to our members. These forums are free of charge and do not require registration and are open to the general public as well as our members. You do not have to be a member of NAMI of Bucks County to attend. The forums begin at 7:00 P.M. and generally runs until 8:30 P.M. The forums are held at the old Warminster Hospital now called Abington Memorial Health Center, Warminster Campus at 225 Newtown Rd., Warminster, PA 18974. Andrew O’Brien, MS, LPC, CAADC, CTTS, CTTS-M will be discussing the disease model of addiction, current treatment approaches, elements of recovery, and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Andrew’s work as a therapist focuses on substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and tobacco dependence treatment. His background also includes work training and supervising clinicians on substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders, as well as tobacco dependence. Addiction is an often misunderstood condition that affects millions of Americans each day. The impact on the individual’s life, as well as on their family is usually profound. The stigma associated with addiction is equally impactful.
