NAMI Bucks Forum
NAMI Bucks holds a forum on the third Thursday of the following months: September, November, February, April and June. Each forum will feature a speaker on various topics that are of interest to our members. These forums are free of charge and do not require registration and are open to the general public as well as our members. You do not have to be a member of NAMI of Bucks County to attend. The forums begin at 7:00 P.M. and generally runs until 8:30 P.M. The forums are held at the old Warminster Hospital, now called Abington Memorial Health Center, Warminster Campus at 225 Newtown Rd., Warminster, PA 18974. Please join us on February 15, 2018. Andrew O’Brien, MS, LPC, CAADC, CTTS, CTTS-M will be presenting an overview of tobacco dependence, nicotine as an addictive substance, nicotine brain chemistry, overview of treatment approaches e.g. NRT, Chantix, Buproprion, counseling, support, and myths and facts of treatment. Tobacco dependence is a significant risk to health and wellness, and is found in much higher rates in people with mental illness and addiction struggles compared to the general population. Andrew has experience in treating nicotine dependence in mental health and addiction settings, as well as training other clinicians on tobacco dependence and treatment. No registration is required.
