About Mental Illness
A mental illness is a medical condition that disrupts a person’s thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning.
What is Recovery?
Recovery from serious mental illness is not only possible, but for many people living with mental illness today, probable. The notion of recovery involves a variety of perspectives.
NAMI SPEAKS, the Speakers Bureau of NAMI Bucks County, PA, offers a 40-minute feature speech or a 20-minute keynote speech about living with or caring for someone living with a mental health condition. We promote recovery through messages of hope and lived experience, and we will inspire those facing challenges by recounting not just our crisis points, but what aided us in our journey. Mental health professionals will gain insight by hearing a first-hand account of what it’s really like to live with a mental health condition and receive services in Bucks County.
“Recovery is not only possible, it should be expected. It is entirely possible to live well with a mental illness.”
